Allan Harmon

Director

A native of upstate New York, Allan Harmon began his career in theatre before transitioning to film, television, and commercials. Over the past 30 years, he has worked as an Assistant Director, Unit Manager, Director, and Producer for major networks and studios, including CBS, NBC, ABC, Disney, Hallmark, Lifetime, MGM, Universal, Warner Bros., and more.

Allan has directed numerous television series, such as Police Academy (Warner Bros.), Night Man and Andromeda (Tribune/Fireworks), and The Haunting Hour (HUB), which earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Directing. His work on Project MC2 (Netflix) garnered a nomination for the 2018 NAACP Image Award. Other credits include Street Legal (CBC), Untold Stories of the E.R. (Discovery Channel, Leo Award winner for Best Direction), and pilot episodes for A Question of Justice (TVO).

Through his production company, Really Real Films, co-founded with his wife Cynde Harmon, Allan has created numerous award-winning projects, including If I Had Wings (Whistler Film Festival premiere, Audience Choice Award at the Kelowna Film Festival, and a Canadian Screen Award nomination). Their television pilot Wolf Canyon (APTN) won five Leo Awards, including Best Director.

Allan’s feature film and television movie credits include Afghan Knights, Passion’s Web (Lifetime), Second Sight (Lifetime, Leo nomination), Anything But Christmas (CTV, ION), and 18 Hallmark Channel movies since 2017, spanning genres like romance, mystery, and holiday-themed films.

A long-standing Director’s Guild of Canada member since 1979, Allan has recently completed his term as Chair of the British Columbia District Council and sits on the National Executive Board.
