Fiona Reid, C.M., D.C.L.
Fiona Reid is one of Canada’s best known stage actors, having performed in the top theatres across the country, including five seasons with Stratford and eleven seasons at Shaw as well as theatres in the US and the UK. Over her career, she has twice won Dora Mavor Moore awards, as well as a Jessie Award from Vancouver and a Sterling Award from Edmonton for her performances.
Her career has been marked by diverse signature roles that include Amanda in The Glass Menagerie, Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire, Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest, Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Hedda Gabler and Clare in A Delicate Balance, amongst many others.
In 2010, ACTRA honoured her with their Award of Excellence, a distinction that followed being made a Member of the Order of Canada in 2006, winning the Toronto Life Women of Distinction Award, also in 2006 and being honoured with the Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award in 2008. Fiona has received an honorary doctorate from Bishop’s University and is a graduate of McGill University. She was made a member of the Order of Canada in 2006. She joined The AFC Board of Directors in 2011.
