CMPA and the Actors’ Fund of Canada announce the 2015 Prime Time Challenge

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OTTAWA, ON – March 4, 2015 – The Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) is inviting all delegates, industry members and supporters to contribute to the Actors’ Fund of Canada during its Prime Time in Ottawa Conference as part of the Prime Time Challenge for the Actors’ Fund of Canada.

The CMPA strongly supports the Actors’ Fund of Canada’s mission of assisting Canadian entertainment professionals in crisis. CMPA Chair Jamie Brown joins Actors’ Fund Board Member Ira Levy and industry leaders including Paul Bronfman, Andra Sheffer, Don Carmody, Bernie Zukerman and many others in challenging delegates to make their own contributions to the Fund as part of the Prime Time Challenge for the Actors’ Fund of Canada (actorsfund.ca/primetime). “Supporting the health and well-being of members of the entertainment industry through the work of the Actors’ Fund of Canada is very important to CMPA. I challenge you to help support your colleagues in crisis and contribute to the Fund today,” said Brown.

The CMPA is a national non-profit organization that represents the interests of over 350 leading screen-based media companies engaged in the production and distribution of English-language television programs, feature films and digital media content in all regions of Canada.

The Actors’ Fund of Canada is the lifeline for Canada’s entertainment industry. Performers and others who work behind the scenes in film and television, theatre, music and dance can apply for emergency financial aid from the Fund. Through its Film and Television Relief Program, the Fund will help hundreds of film & television industry professionals recover from illness, injury or other circumstances causing severe economic and personal hardship in 2015. The Actors’ Fund of Canada was the recipient of the 2011 Gemini Special Award for exceptional service to the Canadian television industry.
