Workshop: How to connect with money when you’re a creative person

Workshop with Chris Enns

Monday, August 26, 6:30 pm

To many artists and people who work in the creative fields, finance often feels like a different language and so it can be difficult to connect with money when faced with complications of variable income, multiple income streams, and non-traditional financial values.

In this workshop, financial planner and opera singer Chris Enns will cover the basics of how to connect with money when you are a creative person. We will talk about:

  • Setting financial goals
  • Mapping the cost of your life and figuring out irregular expenses
  • How to separate your business and personal life
  • How to manage variable income
  • The fundamentals of tax: what you need to know as a self-employed person
  • What tools can help manage your money

The participants will be able to take home worksheets and other practical materials that they can apply to their own financial situation and continue to work on afterwards. Chris will be available for follow up questions from the workshop participants by email.

This workshop is FREE to attend. Attendance is by registration only – spots are limited.

When: Monday, August 26, 6:30 pm
Where: The AFC Offices at 1000 Yonge Street, Suite 301

Meet Chris

I’m Chris, and I split my life between my financial planning practice and the opera stage.

From my childhood on the farm to ten years spent working with artists, I’ve lived my whole life around people who have ‘non-traditional’ financial lives. People who don’t feel like anyone at a normal bank understands them at all. The trouble is… we all still have to deal with money. And when you add the complications of variable income, multiple jobs, business expenses, and a complete lack of financial training… the results can be super stressful.

I work with creatives, digital nomads and other ‘money misfits’ to help them build financial stability (no matter how much money they make.)

My mission is based on the belief that one-on-one financial support should be available to everyone who needs it. That’s why 10% of every dollar I make goes to providing free monthly Office Hours and Pay-What-You-Can Financial Planning for low-income earners. More info: ragstoreasonable.com.
