Prime Time Challenge Update: ACTRA National renews support for Actors’ Fund with $15,000 contribution

OTTAWA, ON – March 6, 2015 – ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) announced today that it will renew its support for the work of the Actors’ Fund of Canada by making a $15,000 contribution. This commitment comes in recognition of the crucial role that the Actors’ Fund continues to play in assisting members of the film & TV community and in response to the Prime Time Challenge from the Canadian Media Production Association’s (CMPA) Chair Jamie Brown.
ACTRA National has been a proud supporter of the Actors’ Fund of Canada for decades and Ferne Downey, President of ACTRA National, is happy to continue supporting the work of the Actors’ Fund with a contribution of $15,000. “The safety net that the Fund provides continues to be essential to the health and well-being of our members facing severe personal hardship,” said Downey. “Our continued support for the Actors ‘ Fund of Canada will help ensure that our members have the assistance they need to bounce back from adversity and continue to produce highly-acclaimed work. We invite all industry members to participate in the Prime Time Challenge in support of the Fund.”

ACTRA is proud to be the leading voice for Canadian culture and the development of Canada’s audiovisual industries.
The Actors’ Fund of Canada is the lifeline for Canada’s entertainment industry. Performers and others who work behind the scenes in film and television, theatre, music and dance can apply for emergency financial aid from the Fund. Through its Film and Television Relief Program, the Fund will help hundreds of film & television industry professionals recover from illness, injury or other circumstances causing severe economic and personal hardship in 2015.
