Supporter Spotlight: the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation

We are extremely grateful to the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation (AMDF) for their generous gift to support the healthcare expenses for our clients in the Emergency Financial Aid Program. The funds received from the foundation help cover physiotherapy costs, prescription drugs, counselling, dental treatments, medical equipment and devices, extended health insurance premiums, and fees for addiction treatments.

AMDF’s Executive Director Alyse Dan says: “The Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation supports community, healthcare and education with a focus on youth mental health and homelessness. We are committed to the prevention of both. Research shows there is a direct positive link between the arts and mental health. The AFC’s Emergency Financial Aid Program ensures that entertainment professionals have access to funds and supports, which help them to maintain their health, dignity and ability to work. By helping artists when they are in a health crisis or state of emergency, The AFC works to ensure the long-term success of their clients. The Emergency Financial Aid program combats poor mental and physical health outcomes on two fronts through intervention and prevention. The organization uses an integrative approach by intervening when necessary and providing guidance through the Financial Wellness Program and Personal Support and Advocacy to help artists to build and maintain financial, physical and mental wellness. AMDF is proud to support a program that connects to our giving priorities and focuses and ensures that individuals lead healthy and productive lives.”
