“The AFC was an awesome help to me after my entire life went up in smoke”
– David Archibald
At 6 a.m. on March 21 I got a call from a friend asking where I was. ‘I’m on set working on a pilot,’ I said. ‘Why?’ ‘Okay, good,’ my friend said. ‘Because your apartment building is on fire.’
In less than a few hours my entire life went up in smoke. A suspicious explosion in an apartment two floors above me destroyed everything in my place. That evening, in the aftermath of the fire, I arrived at a friend’s home with my two cats in borrowed carrying cases; I was homeless and left with nothing but the clothes on my back.
It felt like a nightmare… I didn’t know where to start.
Then a co-worker advised me to call The AFC. I didn’t know much about them, but they were just the best! The AFC helped me through the application process and got me assistance with a new place to live, a bed, food and money to buy basic necessities.
The AFC has been an awesome help to me and, as it turns out, to many people in our industry who have had different emergencies. I tell everyone I meet now my story and ask them to think about supporting The AFC. My story could have just as easily been yours, so give what you can!
