10 years ago, I was inducted into the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame and in the Starwalk on the sidewalks of Vancouver’s Theatre Row for my “lifelong contribution to the arts.” I was enjoying constant work, but all that changed when my partner suffered two strokes and I became the sole caregiver.

Unable to leave my partner alone for any length of time, it became difficult to continue working as I had or even looking for work.

Awards and accolades don’t pay the bills. At my age, the lack of work, the lack of time I have to focus on finding work and the lack of money becomes a vicious cycle.

The AFC was a compassionate lifeline for my family when we needed it the most. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without the financial support. If The AFC wasn’t there to support entertainment professionals, I think that there would be a lot of people who would go hungry or become homeless.

Sometimes a helping hand is all you need to turn things around. We need to help each other, if we can, so thank you for your generous donations! God bless us all and thank you.
