Somatic Tune-In Series with MD Bloch-Hansen
Session 1 – October
Finding Foundations of Support – Cultivating Ease and Safety
October 29, 1-2:30 pm ET | 10 – 11:30 am PT | Zoom
Series Overview
This season, the Somatic Tune-in Series will focus on developing a personal toolkit of somatic resources to draw on through the ups and downs of our personal lives, creative practices, and careers. These resources enhance the quality of our lives and provide what we need to meet life’s challenges, find relief, or navigate uncertainty. Somatic resources can be skills, creative practices, objects, animals or things found in nature. They reside in the body and emerge from physical experiences, sensations, movement, and mindfulness.
Each session will include guided somatic practices, movement, creative exploration, reflection, and opportunities for sharing.
Session Focus
Session 1 will focus on three foundational somatic skills that encourage the nervous system to orient to a felt sense of safety, ease, and trust. This workshop aims to widen participants’ capacity to notice the difference between unconscious and automatic orienting and to engage in intentional, purposeful practices that give us more tools to settle, yield, and meet the present moment with more aliveness.
Who Should Attend
Anyone seeking grounding or mindfulness through movement and body awareness and looking to add somatic resources to their self-care toolkit.
No previous experience with somatic practices, movement, or art-making is needed. Come as you are! All practices are invitations, and you are welcome to participate in ways that feel right for you.
What to bring: Grounding objects or things that help you stay engaged. Bring anything to fidget with, colour, draw, paint, or write with: pens, pencils, paper, pencil crayons, markers, paints, etc.

Meet MD Bloch-Hansen
MD (they/them) is a queer, non-binary human containing multitudes. They are a white settler of Italian and Danish descent, and they live, work, and play in Tkaronto. They show up in the community as a somatic therapist, movement and performance artist. For nearly two decades, MD has been in service to dance as both a practice and a vehicle through which they make meaning of the world. As a therapist and careworker, MD takes a liberatory, justice-oriented approach that honours each person’s embodied wisdom and strengths.
In their private practice, MD offers holistic support for healing and personal exploration, weaving together somatic therapy, expressive arts, movement, and sound meditation. They also work as a clinical social worker at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, supporting trans and gender-diverse youth and their families as they navigate gender questioning and transition.
MD is passionate about supporting people in deepening their relationship with themselves, their bodies, and the world around them. They are interested in the ways that embodied connection, creativity, and care can open up possibilities for more livable futures.
