Roadmap to Care Series

Behind the Scenes of Medical Decisions: Decoding the Doctor’s Playbook

Wednesday, April 23, 1-2 pm ET | 10-11 am PT on Zoom

Navigating the healthcare system as an artist can sometimes feel confusing or frustrating. Why do doctors make the decisions they do? What guidelines, tools, and systems shape their approach to care?

Join us for an informative session where we’ll pull back the curtain on the family medicine model, helping you understand how family doctors diagnose, assess, and treat patients. We hope that this knowledge will help you navigate medical appointments with confidence, build strong relationships with your healthcare providers, and empower you to advocate for your health.

We’ll explore:

  • How family doctors are trained and the clinical guidelines they follow
  • The role of medical billing and how it influences patient interactions
  • Common tools and resources doctors use to make decisions
  • Why appointments feel rushed and how to communicate effectively with your physician
  • Practical strategies for making the most of your healthcare visits

This workshop is for artists of all disciplines who want to better understand the healthcare system. Whether you have had frustrating experiences with medical care or simply want to become a more informed patient, this session will give you valuable insights and practical tools.

Please note: the Roadmap to Care Series is designed to provide general information on the national level. We won’t be able to provide one-on-one support or personalized advice to attendees and address individual healthcare experiences or personal medical questions.
